Synopsis
The story begins with a brief introduction on how states were reorganized on a linguistic basis in the year 1956. We are informed that several places like Kanniyakumari and Munnar were in the hope of joining Tamil Nadu. While Kanniyakumari did eventually go to Tamil Nadu, Munnar continued to remain with Kerala. The story then shifts to the 1980s when nothing much has changed. Tamilians, most of whom work in inhospitable conditions as labourers in the plantation estates of Kerala’s Munnar district, look to provide a better life for at least their children.
